Located in central Italy in the green hills of Umbria, just outside Citta di Castello, Pompeo B & B overlooks the tranquil Italian countryside. In 2003 Italian-Americans Rino and Valerie Zanotto began restoration of this centuries old stone farmhouse constructed around a 12th century look-out tower. They are proud of their charming property and enjoy sharing it with their guests along with valuable tips for exploring the uniqueness of the area. Day trips are easily made to the little-known hilltowns nearby as well as the more familiar destinations of Florence, Assisi, Gubbio, Cortona, Orvieto and Arezzo. Other activities available in the area include hiking, biking, horseback riding, tennis, thermal baths, classes in yoga, cooking, painting, wine tasting, music events, local festivals and shopping.
Pompeo B & B is the ideal location for family and friends to gather for relaxing, or for strolling through nearby olive groves and vineyards, or for serious hiking or bicycling up to Monte Santa Maria Tiberina. Guests can learn to play bocce on Rino's court or take mosaic classes with Valerie. The historic center of Citta di Castello is less than 15 minutes by car. Rich in art and culture, the town also boasts of many great restaurants, fine specialty shops and Thursday / Saturday market day bargains.
The three bedrooms of Pompeo B & B are situated on the ground floor, each with independent entrances and separate patios allowing guests to escape to peaceful spaces for reading, relaxing and dining alfresco. The three rooms are inter-connected for guests travelling together. Fresh seasonal fruit and a bottle of wine await your arrival. With wide stone walls and a hilltop breeze, the rooms stay delightfully cool in summer.
A wonderful continental breakfast is provided each morning and a glass of quality prosecco around aperitivo hour! Rino and Valerie can also provide an antipasto course followed by a simple pasta or a four course meal from 20 euro p/p including local wine (24 hour notice appreciated).
